Officials from Iran and South Korea have for the first time signed an agreement to co-produce a motion picture.

A representative from Iran's vice presidency for science and technology joined a deputy culture minister from Korea during the signing of the agreement for international co-production.

Eshragh Cinema Institute and Documentary and Experimental Film Center will collaborate with an unnamed Korean company to co-produce the unnamed film whose script has already been completed.

The film narrates a historical and mythical story revolving around the cultures of both Iran and Korea.

Iranian Ali Nuri Oskouei and Korean Suk Sun-Ju will produce the film, with Kim Hyun-Jun directing the flick.

Iran’s cinema industry has been more active in the international scene, having embarked on joint productions with various nations.

As the first joint production between Iran and Hollywood, American actor Val Kilmer signed on to star in '1st Born', a comedy by Iranian director, Ali Atshani.
